Background
T&B Design are a relatively new company, although Deb Murray, who runs it, has many years of experience across a broad range of design disciplines. T&B's previous website was fairly basic and Deb knew she needed something more modern that showed off her experience and presented this is an professional manner.
Project
The design for the website was created by Deb (of course) and is based on a 3 column grid, although from an implementation perspective we used a 12 column grid to allow flexibility for planned future developments.
The previous T&B Design was based on Wix and Deb was keen o move away from this platform. As one of Deb’s key drivers was an environmentally responsible, low carbon website, we chose to implement the site using HUGO as we have done wiht several other sites we have developed (including this one!).
As with all of our projects, we went through a rigorous testing phase, checking page load speeds, appearance and functionality across a large number of browsers, operating systems and devices. We always include several back versions of browsers and operating systems in the tests so we could be confident that the site would look good and work properly on the vast majority of devices currently in use, mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop.
As part of the testing, we checked the carbon emissions of all pages of the site. All are cleaner than 95% of all web pages tested which is a very good result and contributes to Deb’s goal of a low carbon website. The site is low carbon because it is very efficient and this also contributes to very fast loading speeds of all pages.
Outcome
T&B Design now have a website that represents their services in a much better way and contains details of their extensive design experience.
